INTERACTIVE MAPS A different picture of the journey to work emerges depending on which way we look at the origin and destination of workers. The journey to work between communities (such as SA2s) will generally differ depending on if we look through the lens of people who live in that area (Place of Usual Residence) and people who work in that area (Place of Work). Two separate maps were produced to allow users to view the journey to work from Place of Usual Residence and to Place of Work. For comparison, Map 1 and 2 illustrate examples of the flow of commutes based on where people live (Place of Usual Residence) and where people work (Place of Work) respectively. Information about the geographic areas used in the maps is available on the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) page. The underlying data used to create the interactive maps are available in ABS TableBuilder Basic & Pro, and additional user notes can be found in the Explanatory Notes tab MAP 1 - FLOW OF COMMUTES FROM USUAL RESIDENCE – Melbourne, SA2s, 2016 Source(s): ABS Census of Population and Housing, 2016 MAP 2 - FLOW OF COMMUTES TO PLACE OF WORK – Melbourne, SA2s, 2016 Source(s): ABS Census of Population and Housing, 2016 Document Selection These documents will be presented in a new window.
